With the weekend in full swing, we are joined by Adrian, who brings us samples of four delicious wines from around the world. Two Italians, a Portuguese Red and A delicious blend from South Africa are on the docket as we take a quick trip through some amazing regions producing some fantastic wine that you may not have gotten a chance to try yet. Delicious and drinkable, as well as reasonably priced, we thoroughly expect these wines to become part of your regular repertoire.

Marco Porello Arneis ($14.99): Aromas of blossom and citrus abound upon the nose. It is refreshing on the palate, with balanced acidity and flavors of lime, citrus and green apples. It is beautifully balanced and has an elegant mineral finish. The lightness and refreshing quality make it an ideal wine to drink on its own but also a great fish and seafood match.

Secateurs Red Blend ($16.99): The aromas are exquisitely perfumed, peppery, spicy, smokey and exhibit ripe, luscious red fruit notes. As always the palate texture of this style of wine is supple, smooth on the entry but with enough grip to end dry with length. In the mouth the texture and fineness of fruit, tannin and drinkability of the wine is immediately evident. A fantastic value with serious chops.

Quinto do Crasto Douro Red ($16.99) This Douro is a deep violet color. Fresh on the nose, with intense berry fruit aromas and elegant floral notes. Balanced and well-structured on the palate, with ripe, yet structured fruit flavours. The tannins are round and finely-textured.  Powerful, with concentrated slate and mineral notes to accent the dark currant, dried berry and raspberry ganache flavors. Very lithe midpalate, with a long, focused finish. Perfect for dinner with friends. A Wine Spectator “Top Value” selection.

Li Veli Passamente ($14.99) Dense ruby red with a purplish rim, it is immediately intense on the nose with marked aromas of ripe and fleshy red fruits, notably cherries followed by spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg; in the mouth it is full, powerful, smooth and very long, with a well defined backbone which helps make it fresh and pleasing and a great companion to food.
