Crystallum ‘Peter Max’ Pinot Noir ($29.99): Stephen Tanzer: 91 Pts.- High-toned aromas of ripe wild strawberry and baking spices in a very lush, easygoing style, with lovely sweetness and depth to the compote of red fruit on the palate. Finishes sweet and long, with gentle tannins.
Crystallum ‘The Agnes’ Chardonnay $27.99): Subtly smoky aromas of toasted wood, ripe apple, passion fruit and pear notes on the nose are followed by a full, but vibrant and zesty palate with lime and honey coming through.
Botanica Chenin Blanc ($25.99): It has an appealing, lightly honeyed bouquet with touches of nectarine and buttercup. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant unctuous texture, some candied lime zest; a little lower in acidity than its peers with a waxy-textured, lengthy finish reminiscent of aged Anjou.
Domaine de Montcy Cheverny Rouge ($19.99): Classic and traditional while remaining light and rustic. Both the varietals contribute bright fruits-du-bois and fleshy red fruit notes on the aroma as well as the palate, which displays a pleasing earthiness and a hint of peppery spice in the medium length finish. Somewhere stylistically between Burgundy and Beaujolais, with roots firmly in the Loire.
