BURGUNDY, BARBERA AND BAROLO

Domaine Chanzy Bouzeron Aligote ‘Les Trois’ ($19.99): Bouzeron is a salute to the Aligote grape, to which it owes its fame. At once rounded and sprightly – a superb synthesis – this enjoyable and delicately powerful wine contributes lemony notes to oysters and matches their saltiness with its steady minerality.

Domaine Chanzy Santenay ($29.99): With an elegant ruby red color, this wine displays a pretty nose of red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and aromas of flowers, spices and vanilla. On the palate return of black fruit (blackcurrant, blueberry), supported by rounded tannins.

Vietti Barbera d’Asti Tre Vignes ($18.99): Ruby purple color with ripe red cherry aromas with hints sweet spices. A dry, medium bodied red wine with refreshing acidity, the Barbera d’Asti Tre Vigne is well balanced with good integration of oak, good complexity and a long finish of red cherries.

Vietti Barolo Castiglione ($57.99): The 2013 Barolo Castiglione is a terrific success story. The nose is generous and full. It imparts fresh fruit and dark cherry aromas with tar, smoke and licorice at the back. Evident structure gives the wine a firm backbone and will carry it through the next decade of cellar aging.
