Domaine Le Colombier Vacqueyres Blanc ($19.99): This Southern Rhône white is a blend of Viogner, Marsanne, and Grenache Blanc.
It shows aromas of white flowers and stone fruits with a nutty and medium-bodied palate. Completely unoaked, the minerality and acidity really come through.
Ferraton Côtes du Rhône ‘Samorens’ Rouge ($13.99): Garnet in color with ruby highlights. Generous aromas of ripe red fruit with blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. Well balanced with ripe fruit and spicy notes this red offers firm tannins and a lengthy finish.
Château Pesquie Ventoux ‘Terrasses’ Rouge ($16.99): Robert Parker – 92 Pts
Named for the terraces hewn into the steep hills of the Ventoux region, this blend offers aromas of ripe berries, pepper, and wild herbs. Consistently feted by critics including Parker and Robinson, Terrasses compares worthily with the great wines of the Rhône, and represents a terrific value.
Montrius Vacqueyras Rouge ‘Le Clos’ ($22.99): Biodynamic since the 1990s, this domaine has been making balanced, terroir-driven wines that truly reflect the Southern Rhône. From a vineyard entirely enclosed by dense forests, the ‘Le Clos’ shows bright aromas of dark fruit and tell-tale notes of black pepper and garrigues.
