Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc ($21.99): Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is a straw green color. Flinty, with floral notes, complemented by exotic tropical fruit of guava, melon, lemon and lime. A mineral backbone, soft lingering acidity, textural palate, strong citrus core.

Tommasi Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Toscana ($16.99): Dark bright red. Amarone-like opulence on the nose and in the mouth, with a raisiny nuance to the ripe, soft red cherry, sweet spice and herb aromas and flavors. So velvety and opulent, but it’s so well balanced and smooth that it’s pretty irresistible. Finishes long, with lush, smooth tannins and a hint of residual sweetness. Manages to retain a graceful quality without going over the top.

Masciarelli Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Marina Cvetic Riserva ($27.99):  This muscular, dense montepulciano sees treatment just like a Bordeaux, with extending aging in new oak barrels, providing aromas of black fruits, chocolate, and coffee, with fine, robust tannins. Best with a grilled steak.

E. Guigal Crozes-Hermitage ($26.99):  This dark and deep Syrah offers aromas of red fruits (cherry and strawberry) and delicate oak. On the palate, it is a structured and tannic wine, showing flavors of blackcurrant buds and vanilla.
