Le Monde Friulano ($16.99):
This wine from north-eastern Italy shows pears, peaches, and white flowers on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with citrus and honeydew. The finish is long, mineral and refreshing. A great example of one of Fruili’s great grapes.
M Chapoutier Cotes de Rousillon Bila-Haut ($15.99): A blend of syrah, grenache, and carignan from a master in the Rhone Valley, this full-bodied red offers all the notes of black pepper and raspberry, as well as additional richness from carignan. A great introduction to the wines of Roussillon.
Andrew Rich Table Cabernet Sauvignon ($22.99): This Columbia Valley Cabernet, made by the talented winemaker Andrew Rich, exhibits dark plums and blueberries on the nose. The palate is silky and smooth showing notes of juicy black fruit, and a hint of chocolate on the rich lingering finish.
Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Santa Barbara ($23.95) Winemaker and owner Jim Clendenen, a pioneer who believed in the potential of CA’s Central Coast, has always favored precision over power, and nuance over extraction. These stylish pinot noirs are light-bodied, delicate, with aromas of red fruits, and meant to be shared with food.
