Gradis Ciutta Ribolla Gialla 2016 ($19.99): Bright and scintillating in the glass, luscious lemon gelee and young herb aromas that carry into a fresh, palate-friendly profusion of citrus, nightflower and raw marcona almond. Balanced and complete through the bright, mouth-popping finish.
Domaine Weinbach Riesling ‘Cuvée Theo’ 2015 ($36.99): Wine Spectator 91 points
A subtle nose of honeysuckle, citrus and lanolin leads to a smooth entry in this rich, well rounded, yet structured Riesling. Lifted notes of apricot, chamomile and candied lime help elevate this perfectly balanced wine through its lengthy finish.
Constantia Glen Two 2015 ($34.99): Only a few miles from Capetown and surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic and False Bay, Constantia Glen makes this refreshing Bordeaux Blanc blend. The wine is fresh and forward with bright notes of citrus and tropical fruits exhibiting creaminess. The wine has the ability to age gracefully for perhaps a decade. One of South Africa’s best whites.
MAN Family Wines Bosstock 2014 ($11.99): The value in South Africa is hard to deny. This wine is another fine example of it. The nose shows notes of cherry and red berry. The juicy palate reveals a softness from the Pinot side of Pinotage. You’ll experience notes of dark fruit leading into a pleasing fresh, fruit-forward finish.
