Erste and Neue Pinot Grigio ($16.99): Hailing from Alto Adige, home of some of Italy’s finest whites, Erste & Neue’s Pinot Grigio is absolutely textbook: pear, apple, hint of nutmeg, very good balance of weight and acidity. A very good versatile everyday white wine, and it’s a steal.
Nicchia Lambrusco di Sorbara ($12.99): This sparkling red from northern Italy features fruity aromas of ripe plum, crushed blackberry and wild raspberry which follow through to the lively palate. It’s off dry, with bright acidity and a light effervescence. Served chilled with pizza or even with your favorite chocolate dessert.
Vientos Del Sur Malbec ($9.99): A classic style of Malbec with intense, earthy fruits and a plush mouthfeel. The tannins are soft and accessible, making this a very easy-drinking red. Vientos del Sur is a small cooperative of individual vineyards from the Maipu region of Mendoza, Argentina.
Sandro Fay Valtellina Superiore Valgella Costa Bassa ($25.99): This shows floral but delicate aromas of red fruit, spice and hints of pot-pourri. The palate exhibits bright red fruit with an earthy mid-palate leading into a finish that is dry and lingering.
