ITALY, FRANCE, AND ARGENTINA

June 22, 2018
Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosato ($24.95): Heady aromas of rose petal, white cherry and apple blossom offer an alluring entry into this wine, which according to the wine-maker, has the body of a white but the soul of a red. The palate is crisp and sleek, on the light side of medium bodied, with redolent flavors of citrus zest, pink fruit and just enough minerality to remind you that you are drinking wine grown on the slopes of an active volcano.
Abbazia di Novacella Kerner ($21.99): Scents of white blossoms and peach skin lend delicacy to this round and creamy wine. A streak of salinity adds lift and structure, balancing the ripe peach and spiced golden apple flavors and cleansing the finish.

Mas de Gourgonnier Les Baux de Provence ($16.99): A saturated black ruby in the glass. Aromas suggest Provencal lavender, thyme and rosemary, with plums and black raspberries enlivened with a pinch of white pepper. The mouth delivers spiced cherries and plums, with hints of ginger and bass notes of dark chocolate.

Altos Las Hormigas Terrior Malbec ($17.99): This Malbec shows a ruby red colour with violet hints, typical of high altitude. Delicate fruity notes appear first in the nose, gaining complex- ity as the wine opens up, to show more firm scents of violet and red cherries. It has a fresh entry in the palate, underpinned by its succulent natural acidity. Gentle mineral notes spread through the mouth as the wine unfolds, granting a round, balanced, long finish.
