Botanica Chenin Blanc ($25.99): It has an appealing, lightly honeyed bouquet with touches of nectarine and buttercup. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant unctuous texture, some candied lime zest; a little lower in acidity than its peers with a waxy-textured, lengthy finish reminiscent of aged Anjou.
Le Monde Friulano ($16.99): This wine from north-eastern Italy shows pears, peaches, and white flowers on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with citrus and honeydew. The finish is long, mineral and refreshing. A great example of one of Fruili’s great grapes.
Crystallum ‘Peter Max’ Pinot Noir ($29.99): Stephen Tanzer: 91 Pts.- High-toned aromas of ripe wild strawberry and baking spices in a very lush, easygoing style, with lovely sweetness and depth to the compote of red fruit on the palate. Finishes sweet and long, with gentle tannins.
M. Chapoutier Cotes de Roussillon ($14.99): 91 Pts Robert Parker
A blend of syrah, grenache, and carignan from a master in the Rhone Valley, this full-bodied red offers all the notes of black pepper and raspberry, as well as additional richness from carignan. A great introduction to the wines of Roussillon.
