Dark ruby in the glass, this wine’s simple cherry fragrance does not do justice to its black cherry, blueberry, vanilla and clove flavors. It’s bright from the first sip, with silky tannins and black pepper and sage notes that continue into a finish punctuated by a burst of bright cherry.
Chateau Marquisat de Binet Montagne Saint-Emilion ‘Cuvee Abel’ ($45.99): This Kosher Bordeaux is made from 100% Old-Vine Merlot grown at the top of the slopes in Montagne Saint-Emilion. It display dark fruit and graphite as well as a touch of dried herbs on the nose. The palate is medium-full with notes of plums balanced by notes of earth and soil. The finish is long and generous with chewy tannins.
