LIGHT & BRIGHT FOR THURSDAY NIGHT

May 25, 2017

Memorial Day Weekend is finally here, kicking off the summer and making it once again “appropriate” to wear (and drink) white, although if you want to do either any other time of the year, we’re not going to be the ones to call you out on it. Our free tasting this Thursday evening features several spectacular Summer sippers that help kick off the season in style.

These wines are stylish, light and excellent for any occasion, much like the ideal seasonal wardrobe. We have Whites from two old world producers, perfect for patios, porches and poolside as well as delectable Californian bubbles and a Long Island red ideal for chilling and grilling on those cool Summer evenings.

Elena Walch Pinot Grigio ($15.99): This effortlessly bright Pinot Grigio captivates with light straw yellow and fruity, crisp notes of ripe pears, white pepper and a bit of sage in the nose. Mineral-salty richness and a prolonged are distinctive on the palate. A wine with backbone and a likeable companion to many dishes. This gorgeous Pinot Grigio received 90 points from James Suckling.
Dom. La Cabotte Rhone Blanc ($15.99): The nose of this ridiculously under-priced Rhone white is discreet and elegant, expressing complex and subtle aromas, mixing orgeat, pear and white-peach blossoms with a hint of stone fruit and spice. In the mouth it is round, smoothly tense, expressing a very beautiful minerality, rich, long, and airy on the finish. Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Viognier comprise this delicious cuvee, perfect for all seasons but magnificent with a luxuriating summer lunch.

Schramsberg Sparkling Blanc de Blanc ($32.99): The 2013 Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) has bright and fresh aromas of grapefruit, mango, apricot, lemon, and white peach. The fruitful fragrance intermingles with hints of fresh bread, vanilla cream pie, and rose petals. Freshly sliced Gala apples, zesty citrus, and bright pineapple flavors carry vibrant length on the palate. Whatever you are celebrating, this wine is a perfect party popper.

Macari Dos Aguas ($28.95): A wine of two waters (‘Dos Aguas”) and two worlds. A medium red blend from Long Island, this wine is subtly evocative of an evening on the beach around a fire with friends and food and a steady breeze blowing in off the sea. Boasting rich aromas of red and black fruits and a powerful, deeply scented bouquet of briarwood and leather going into a palate replete with oodles of plummy fruit, earthy under-tones, this wine brings to mind Old World classics while remaining unmistakably New World, East Coast Style.
