Originally established in Pennsylvania in 1753, the Michter’s was resurrected in the 1990s in Louisville, Kentucky. With its unique ageing process, including the use of toasted barrels before charring, as well as heat cycling their warehouses which increases the evaporation lost to “Angel’s Share” but concentrating the remaining matured whiskey, Michter’s whiskeys have become very sought after given their great quality and attractive price.
Michter’s Bourbon ($44.99): 91.4 Proof. Selected mashbill with featuring American corn, this small batch includes no more than a dozen barrels, including some that are over 8 years old. Full-bodied with notes of creme brulee, brown sugar, cinnamon, and dried fruit.
Michter’s Rye ($44.99): 84.8 Proof. Always from a single barrel, this has typical spicy rye notes, with more subtle aromas of maple syrup, molasses, and red baking spices.
Michter’s Sour Mash ($44.99): 86.0 Proof. With high amounts of corn and rye in the mashbill, this traditional sour mash is great for those on the fence between bourbon and rye. Equally versatile in cocktails or straight up.
