Alix Carlin Sancerre ($23.99): A gentler, more flowery style of Sancerre coming from limestone (caillottes) vineyards; generous, with a fine balance and a dry refreshing mineral finish; a great value!
Domaine J Boulon Morgon ($16.99): This Cru Beaujolais from Morgon, the second largest of the Crus, is 100% Gamay. It’s full of ripe red fruit and broad tannins. This will age for 5 to 10 years, and is an amazing value Cru Beaujolais.
Chateau Bernadotte Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois ($24.99): The great dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend has given this wine both a fine structure and crisp swathes of black-currant fruit. It is a firm wine at this stage, although the fine fruitiness will become an important part of the taste. The estate is named after one of Napoleon’s generals who became King of Sweden.
