La Vieille Ferme Cotes du Luberon Blanc 2014, Southern Rhone ($9.99): A Mediterranean blend of bourboulenc, grenache, ugni, and vermentino, this fresh, fleshy white has aromas of stone fruits and white flowers, with a round acidity that is great as an aperitif. Also available in magnums!
Hamilton Russell Chardonnay 2015, Hemel-En-Aarde ($32.99): Founded in 1975 with vineyards literally a short walk away from the ocean, Hamilton Russell focuses only on pinot noir and chardonnay and is perhaps South Africa’s finest estate. Its chardonnay is harvested at extremely low yields, barrel fermented, and exhibits complex aromas of tropical and stone fruits, with bracing minerality.
Cono Sur Pinot Noir “Bicicleta” 2014, Central Valley ($9.99): Harvested only from organic vineyards, this voluptuous pinot noir has aromas of black cherries, strawberries and raspberries, with a plush and round palate.
Southern Right Pinotage 2014, Hemel-En Aarde ($22.99): A cross between cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir, pinotage is undoubtedly S. Africa’s national grape. With complex berry fruit, subtle spices, and soft tannins, Southern Right is named after the whales that are often seen outside the bay. A great introduction to pinotage.
