WINES FROM SPAIN, PORTUGAL, ALSACE AND MONTEREY

Charles Baur Cremant d’Alsace NV, France ($23.99): A blend of pinot blanc and chardonnay, this finely textured sparkling wine from Alsace has bright aromas of orchard fruits, flowers, and melons. It is a perfect aperitif, great with brunch, and even better with fresh shellfish.

Brazao Vinho Verde 2014, Portugal ($10.99): Lightly carbonated with a touch of sweetness and slightly lower in alcohol, this vinho verde shows flavors of stone and citrus fruits, with bright minerality and crisp acidity.

Poppy Pinot Noir 2013, Monterey County ($19.99): From the canyons deep within Salinas Valley, this medium-bodied pinot noir shows the best of California’s Central Coast, with aromas of ripe red and purple fruit, baking spices, and a soft and rich palate.

Petroio Chianti Classico 2011, Tuscany ($22.99): 90% sangiovese and the remainder colorino and malvasia nera, this well-aged Chianti shows bright red cherries and a soft earthiness that is very typical of wines near Siena. A great wine with pizza or pasta.
