Giordano Lombardo Gavi di Gavi ‘Vigne di San Martino’ ($16.99): This wine made, biodynamically, shows nutty citrus fruits on the floral nose. It has a driving minerality on the palate, with a chalky texture that does not diminish the graceful freshness and clarity of expression.

Peirano Estate Cabernet Sauvignon ($15.99): The Peirano family established themselves in Lodi back in the late 1800’s.  They planted their first Zinfandel vines and began making wine.  Generations later they are still well established in the region owning multiple vineyard sites most of which contain old vines.  This Cabernet comes from 50 year old vines.  Aromas of zesty black cherries, cola, and toasty cocoa. The initial sip unveils sweet anise, black cherry, molasses, and baked blackberry pie, while maintaining absolute dryness and firm, round, yet supple, tannins.

Nervi Gattinara ($34.99): This mountain Nebbiolo is elegant and austere.  The nose shows rose petals and violets, layered with cherries and leather.  The palate is light to medium-bodied with bright red fruit followed by tobacco leading into richly integrated tannins and a long finish.

Daniel Rion Cotes de Nuits Village ‘Mosaic’ ($29.99): Wine Spectator 90 pts
This Pinot Noir is a fine expression of black cherry, raspberry and spice flavors, with a silky texture. It is balanced, featuring a light grain to the tannins finishing long with a lingering hint of black pepper.
