This project started before WWII. Suntory started experimenting with Mizunara Oak, a native Japanese oak that is extremely hard to work with. At the onset of the war, oak was very hard to import so Suntory learned to master Mizunara. Some of that pre-war whiskey is blended into this along with whiskies all a minimum of 18 years old, all of which has been aged in Mizunara Oak. This is a unique and special whiskey, by the top whiskey producer in Japan.
